An upgrade to your standard sausage roll! I love the combination of apple and gorgonzola cheese. The perfect savoury pastry for a picnic!
Total Cooking Time
40 Minutes
Ingredients (Makes 16)
400g Pork sausages
2 Bramley apples (peeled, cored & grated)
375g Ready to roll puff pastry
75g Gorgonzola picante
1 Large egg
1 tbsp Milk
3 tbsp Black onion seeds
Method
1. Pre heat the oven to 180 (fan)
2. Cut the skin of the sausages and remove the meat from the skins. Add the sausage meat to a large mixing bowl. Peel, core and grate the apples and add to the sausage meat. Crumble in the gorgonzola and mix until combined. Season with salt & pepper and set aside.
3. Roll out the pastry onto a floured surface into a large rectangle and half lengthways into two rectangles.
4. Line one side of each of the rectangles with the sausage meat, mix the egg and the milk and brush the edges of the pastry. Fold the pastry over the sausage meat and using your thumb seal the edges and then cut into individual sausage rolls.
5. Place the sausage rolls onto a baking tray (lined with baking paper) and brush each with the rest of the egg wash. Sprinkle with onion seeds and bake for 25 minutes until golden.
